FFD Takes LA
After a last minute flight to LA, I’ve been cruising around California for the past couple weeks:
(It’s been a whirlwind)
Check back in soon to hear tales of the eating adventures of a NYC yellow cabbie who is OUT OF HIS ELEMENT on the west coast. And then it’s back to dreary old Manhattan for me.
In the meantime, pick up a Saveur Magazine and check out #15 on this year’s Top 100 list!

So you made it to OUR part of the country? Hope you enjoyed your “Double Double”. Can’t wait to hear where else you hit. I hope some good Mexican…and I mean…authentic. The kids still talk about Ruthie’s and tells everyone to go there if they go to NYC. That, the deep fried snickers/twinkies and the Spumonie was their favorite….the pickles…”not so good”! I’m sending my sister your way when she finally motivates herself to go to NYC! Take care!

I still feel bad about dropping Emily’s birthday cupcake into the gutter on 50th street (and off my head). Nonetheless, that sweet sixteen tour ranks as one of my greatest tours to this day.
May I just say this LA and the west coast. Your fast food burger joints put ours to SHAME.
Good to hear from you!

Must try El Pollo Loco. and their condiment bar (if it still exists- I happen to be 1,000 miles from the nearest one.)
Try Seal Beach for walking the sidewalks with sweet shops, shell shops, fish, pizza, burgers and an independent film house. Not to mention bungalows, a pier, and the crashing or lapsing of surf.(smells and sounds good too!)

Dudes, I just had a coworker bring by Saveur! He was all like “This your boy?” And I said “Hell yeah, that’s my boy.” And then he saw that I have your Village Voice page on my bulletin board here and said “Your boy is getting mad props, yo” and I totes agreed. No, really–that was a conversation I just had at a literary publishing house. You bring out the street in the nerditors!
Hoooooooray for Daveywood!

Congratulations on the Saveur blurb. I was directed to your website from the magazine. Hope you are enjoying L.A., I just started a foodblog last week, http://www.fungryinLA.blogspot.com, but I recommend you checking out this more established blog for tips on where to eat: la.foodblogging.com. HAPPY eating!
