Take a gander at the second installment of my Holiday Foods series airing on HistoryChannelDotCom. This isn’t the most exciting one (mostly I just repeat what the baker says), but that shouldn’t stop you from coming back here for links to the next SIX thrilling episodes before the year is out.

This All Hallow’s Eve I do NOT have a new story for you guys to read because I haven’t been driving the cab lately thanks to grad school (thank you grad school, if you’re reading). But I do have a couple of links worth clicking away from FamousFatDave.Com for (click there to browse five borough eating tours for which I am NEVER too busy).
The first link is the inaugural episode of my Holiday Foods Series airing waaaaay over on the other side of the internet at HistoryChannel Dot Com. I’ll be taking you guys on a few different mini eating tours, each focussing on a different holiday food. In today’s episode I take the old Checker cab to Metro Candy Apple in Clifton, NJ whereupon I meet Ray (not impressed by me) and Weezie (LOVED me) while I learn the art of the candy apple.
Holiday Foods: Candy Apples
The second link is to herald the start of a new, bold, delicious blog called “The Crumb Catcher.” Packed with recipes and food reviews, Juree (a former customer on the wheels of steel/ my best friend’s sister) is going to take the food blog world by storm.

Set your DVR for No Reservations With Tony Bourdain this Monday night.

PS I don’t like Gray’s Papaya. But through the magic of television, it might appear that I do.

Gary Sweet from Nine Network Australia’s “Things To Try Before You Die” asked me to take him for the one food on my tour that I would say he absolutely had to taste before he died. That’s like asking me to choose which one of my children I love best (I don’t have any children, but if I did, I’d love my second born best). So I took him to Guss Pickles on the Lower East Side to taste a spicy new pickle with my old boss Tim, because
A. It’s delicious
B. To me, there is nothing more New York than a pickle
C. Tim is a legend
and
D. I used to work there, so I’m loyal

In case you didn’t make it to the Javitz Convention Center in April to see Cabbie Voices at the New York International Auto Show, get ready to be happy.
PBS is airing Shravan Vidyarthi’s probing, six-minute documentary on the varied lives of New York City yellow cab drivers (including mine). Check out an interview with Shravan and the whole film here, and then tune in to thirteen on July 5 at 10pm to catch the movie along with one on bike messengers and another on the ladies room in the Staten Island ferry.

ABC News Now just aired a piece on my famous “Boot Of The Bronx” eating tour, one of the countless, customized, culinary tours I have to offer over at FamousFatDaveDotCom. We got Oprah’s camera man (!) and took a wild romp through The Bronx chowing down on Italian food the whole way through.
Unfortunately, they cut a scene showing those delicious Little Neck Clams Possilipo at Artie’s in City Island. But they’ve got great shots of the broccoli rabe at Fratelli’s in Hunt’s Point, the fried calzone at Louie and Ernie’s in Pelham Bay, the Italian Ice next door at Teresa’s, and the cannoli at Madonia Brothers on Arthur Ave. Classic food porn. Enjoy.
